The Upper House Message Regarding the 36^th Year Memorial of the People of Herat Province Uprising Against the Soviet Union:

Dates 24^th of Hoot 1393 Solar Year

By the Name of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful

The Upper House National Council of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan  concerns the uprising of the faithful people of Herat Province on Hoot 24, 1357 (Feb 15, 1978) against the then infidel and communist regime as a meritorious memorial act and has served as the turning point in the history of the country.

Thousands of people of Herat by holding the national flag on the day challenged the well-equipped security forces of the enemy with empty hands. Although countless people including women and children had been martyred by the enemy’s army on 24th Hoot 1357 (Feb 15, 1978) the people of the mentioned province is committed to preserve the country’s freedom, honor and safeguard by the blood of the martyrs of the people of Afghanistan. The Upper House considers this day as a historic and starting phase of Jihad and resistance of the people of Afghanistan against Soviet Union, and prays to Allah the Almighty paradise to the martyrs of the incident.
