Fazl Hadi Muslimyar, Speaker of the Meshrano Jirga, met this afternoon with Mr. Rudrindra Tandon, Ambassador of India to Kabul.

During the meeting, the Speaker of the Meshrano Jirga initially expressed his and the senators’ deep impressions of the rapid outbreak of the third wave of the Covid to the friendly country India and the resulting casualties and said, Unfortunately, this disease, which took the lives of a large number of Indian citizens, including several Afghans living in India, and members of the Senate expressed their condolences at yesterday's plenary session with the Indian government and called on the government to sympathize with the Indian government and people.

Mr. Tandon, while appreciating the sympathy of the Speaker, members of the Meshrano Jirga, and citizens of the Afghan people said that the situation in his country was serious and that the new wave of the Corona virus had put pressure on the health sector and the government. The Indian ambassador continued to express concern over the continuing violence and civilian and military casualties in Afghanistan, saying he hoped the ongoing efforts to bring peace would be fruitful and that the wars in Afghanistan would end. 

Fazl Hadi Muslimyar, Speaker of the Meshrano Jirga, said that the Meshrano Jirga has always asked the government to work for more peace and not to abandon this process because peace is the will and basic need of the Afghan people, but it can be seen that the Taliban do not adhere to this process and continue to fight and kill the Afghan people. The Speaker added: "Afghanistan's international partners must understand the current situation in Afghanistan, not ignore the sacrifices of the people and security personnel in the fight against terrorism, and work realistically to ensure peace in Afghanistan. "He also stressed that they must act in accordance with their existing commitments and agreements with Afghanistan. Criticizing Zalmai Khalilzad's role in the Afghan peace process, the Speaker said: "Unfortunately, from the beginning until now, the Taliban have been pursuing peace talks without the involvement of the Afghan government and campaigning for the release of Taliban prisoners and their international status, which his actions are not in the interest of the Afghan peace process. The Speaker was also reminded of the postponement of the Istanbul Summit and expressed hope that the international community would cooperate in holding and make successful the Summit in order to reach an acceptable result and the imposed wars in Afghanistan.
