Mohammad Akbar Stankzai, the second deputy speaker of the Meshrano Jirga, which has headed a parliamentary delegation to Turkey, addressed the fourth conference (Counter-Terrorism and Regional Connection).

The conference, attended by the Speakers and Members of Parliament of the six countries in the region, focused on the fight against terrorism and regional connectivity. In his speech, the second deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, while sharing a number of problems and challenges of the Afghan people with the participants, said that the issue of peace in Afghanistan has become a key and important issue in the

 region and the world. He added: "I represent a country whose tens of thousands of citizens have lost their lives or been injured in the fight against global terrorism for many years, and the current wars in various areas have left its people behind”, and urges the countries of the region and the world to work sincerely with the Government of Afghanistan to end the war and ensure peace. It is noteworthy that in this conference, the second deputy of the upper house accompanied by Rahela Dostum, secretary of the senate, Senator Lotfollah Baba and Abdul Moqtader naseri, general secretary of the Meshrano Jirga’s secretariat.

Mohammad Akbar Stankzai, the second deputy speaker of the Meshrano Jirga and his accompanying delegation, met with Mr. Asad Qaisar, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, on the sidelines of the Conference on Counter-Terrorism and Regional Connection in Turkey.

The two sides discussed the fight against terrorism, strengthening regional cooperation, creating employment and educational opportunities for

 refugees, scholarships for Afghan students, and providing facilities to Afghan refugees, Pakistan's honest participation in the Afghan peace process, facilitating bilateral trade and other issues were exchanged in the meeting. Mohammad Akbar Stanekzai also called on Mr. Qaisar to motivate his government to play a real and positive role in the fight against terrorism, saying that better relations between the two neighboring countries could have a positive impact on the peace process.

The meeting, which held on the sidelines of the Fourth Conference on Counter-Terrorism and Regional Connection, focused on strengthening parliamentary relations, the Afghan peace process, health, providing scholarships for Afghan youth, and other important issues. During the meeting, Mr. Shantop also promised to visit Afghanistan at an opportune time to further strengthen bilateral ties.
