The parliamentary delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran met with Lotfollah Baba, Chairman and other members of the Communications and Telecommunications Commission of the Meshrano Jirga.


At the beginning, the chair of the commission, while welcoming the parliamentary delegation of Iran, reminded of the good and long-standing relations between the two friendly and neighboring countries and emphasized on the development and expansion of relations at different levels, especially parliamentary relations.


In this meeting, Mr. Azari emphasized on strengthening and developing relations between the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding that we want to expand relations in various fields, especially parliamentary relations and exchange experiences in the field of legislation. The delegation also called on the Senate Communications Commission to cooperate in the areas of investment, construction of oil and gas reserves, energy, and management of border ports in transportation and traffic regulation.


Then, on behalf of Senators, Mohammad Rahim Hassan yar, Deputy Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, while recalling the assistance of the Islamic Republic of Iran, emphasized on expanding trade relations and strengthening parliamentary relations between the two neighboring countries. Also, he raised the issue of electricity generation in Afghanistan and some other issues that were r the Iranian parliamentary delegation promised to cooperate in the mentioned fields.

Also, Amina Afzali, the head of the parliamentary friendship group between the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, met separately with the Iranian parliamentary delegation in the National Assembly.


During the meeting, which was also attended by members of the Friendship Group, Mr. Ali Azari, Member of Meshrano Jirga and Chairman of the Delegation, recalled of Afghanistan's long-standing historical relations with Iran and said that his country hosts about three million Afghan refugees and thousands of students’ are currently studying in that country without discrimination. Mr. Azari, while Emphasized on the exchange of experiences in the field of legislation, he said that Iran is determined to invest in energy, trade, tourism and oil sectors in Afghanistan.


Then, Ms. Ameneh Afzali, Head of Friendship Group, emphasized on strengthening parliamentary relations, religious, cultural commonalities and long-standing historical relations between the two countries and neighbors, adding that the Afghan people want lasting peace in the country more than ever, in this regard, the Islamic Republic of Iran can play a valuable role in the Afghan peace process. Furthermore, all other members of the parliamentary group also stressed the need to strengthen relations at various levels, especially parliamentary issues and the exchange of experiences between the Afghan Senate and the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran.
