In the plenary session of the Meshrano Jirga led by Deputy Speaker of the House, besides approval of the presidential decree about the establishment of a new district in the Ghor province, the discussion was on current issues of the country.


The presidential decree no 663 decree about the establishment of a new district in the centrality of Shorbak of the Ghor province, approved by majority votes after its review in the Senate commissions. Moreover, it is decided that all presidential decree about the establishment of new districts should be introduced to the national assembly for scrutiny.  

Furthermore, at today's session, the Speaker and members of the House expressed support for the sixteen-day campaign against violence against women, saying that according to the annual report of the AIHRC, violence against women increased by 8.2 percent over the first seven months of the year, and residential environment have become the most unsafe place for Afghan women, and violence should be prevented at their homes and job. The culture of exemption must be ended and the scholars, the elders, and all the citizens must wage a serious and concerted struggle against the ominous phenomenon of female abuse.


During the session, Dr. Mohammad Faisal Samai, a senator from Baghlan province, strongly criticized the operation of special police units in the use of tear gas and cold water on protesters in Pul-e-Khumri, stressing that the election process was political and that the security and defense forces should be remained neutral in election issues; But some senators said the election commission is independent in its actions and the people, the candidates, and the government should not interfere with the work of this commission.

Furthermore, some senators considered the recent remarks of Amrullah Salih vice-presidential candidate about the Hazara nation and insisted that no one has the right to make such jog issues and slander on human creation.

Also, the deteriorating security situation in Jawzjan province and the emphasis on establishment of an airfield in that province, the emergence of disputes between President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and former President Hamid Karzai, and an emphasis on resolving those disputes, demand to investigate allegations of sexual harassment in Logar province schools by civil society officials, martyrdom of two merchants in Helmand province by police, condemned attack on a vehicle carrying UNMA staff in Kabul, and a number of other issues were raised.

In summing up the issues, Mohammad Alam Ezadyar, the first deputy of the senate, urged the politicians to avoid disputes by understanding the sensitive conditions of the country, and especially to bring about national consensus on important issues, including the peace process.


Furthermore, Ezadyar while emphasized on reaches of the security situation in insecure areas, especially the highways, he emphasized that the security sector should maintain its neutrality in the electoral process. He said justice should be considered at announcing the preliminary results of the election, and electoral commissions, candidates, and politicians should find ways to resolve the existing dispute.

In the end, Senator Abdul Latif Nahzatyar presented the Senate delegation visit report form Eastern province, the report was on education, higher education, pilgrimage and endowment and other parts of eastern provinces.
